We Should Talk About Rap

Rap is one of the most controversial topics in todays society. Rap culture started during the 70s in the streets of New York since then it has spread all over creating music by making rhymes along with telling their stories. Over time rap is looked as something negative by talking about women, drugs, money and other criminal activities, and the coming up of an artist which is normally misunderstood by the general population who don’t have a background similar to an artist. Women for example are targeted as sex objects as well but they also talk about women who have played important roles in their life whether it be a baby momma, ex, gf, wife etcetera, not all rap demeans women they are praised in some ways as well. Another thing about rap is the use of explicit language and that’s because most people grew up in their environments that they come from where the use of language was different than others of course. Rap is normally misunderstood as being negative because of what they talk about nobody really looks to the message or the coming up of an artist most people like to stereotype an artist or the genre of hip-hop as one. Not all rap is negative people are just living life because they’re tired of what they came from, they’re tired of being negative so now they rap about money, women and drugs. In conclusion that’s why rap or hiphop is normally not taught in school because nobody really understand or people are offended cause they do not want to feel or hear the message its mostly a stereotype to those who don’t listen to the music.
